The Cable Beach area is Nassau’s largest resort area outside of Paradise Island which currently has a number of hotels being operated by internationally known hotel brands. The proposed Baha Mar Resort mega-development on the Cable Beach strip is intended to revitalize this touristic resort area into a premier world class destination along with the existing resort hotels within the overall Baha Mar development company.
The construction of the Baha Mar Report was being overseen by the Buildings Control Division of the Ministry of Works and Urban Development; however, the Government of the Bahamas desired to contract with a consultant to act as the Government representative during the construction phase of the project, providing building inspection services for Civil, Structural, MEP, Life Safety, and Elevator inspections.
Reiss Engineering was contracted to provide building inspection services for the Baha Mar Resort construction development project, including collaborative periodic plan review, day-to-day building & site inspections, material testing services for various trades and disciplines to insure quality control. The redevelopment and construction entails the construction of a new 1,000 room Casino Hotel (25 guest room levels), 700 room Convention Hotel (24 guest room levels), 200 room Luxury Hotel (16 guest room levels), 300 room Lifestyle Hotel (9 guest room levels), 100,000 sq.ft. Casino, 150,000 sq.ft. stand-alone Convention Centre, Timeshare offering (7 unit levels), 20-acre beach and pool grounds, 60,000 sq.ft. retail entertainment Village, 18–hole signature golf course, and 30,000 destination spa. Over 9,000 inspections were performed.
